CALC\u2019s Education Justice program was formed in 2021 to advocate for genuine equity within Eugene School District 4J. Its steering committee, the Education Justice Action Team<\/strong>, is a dynamic group of parents, students and educators dedicated to children and social justice. EJAT recognizes that racial justice must be at the foundation of all our work and that it is integral to creating authentic societal transformation that leads to true freedom for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Equitable outreach and engagement prioritizing historically underserved groups such as those who have a home language other than English<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Equitable access to resources and curriculum<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Broad and diverse curriculum that represents the diversity of our country and the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eliminate <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Disparities between 4J regions and schools<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Inherently racist standardized testing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Disproportionate discipline of BIPOC students<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promote <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Authentic safety by bringing Restorative Justice practices into schools<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 District wide reporting and response system for complaints regarding hate and bias<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organize<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Help parents and students learn to advocate for themselves and navigate systems of power<\/p>\n\n\n\n
